Questions for Simply Sundays from Emmi’s Little Cookin World :

  1. Your first memory associated with food?

We both come from Italian – Irish families and food has always been associated with parties, holidays and get-togethers.  Many of the recipes in our blog are based on recipes we remember enjoying while growing up and that have been shared with us from family members.

  1. The best thing you’ve ever eaten?

I’m not sure I can pick one best thing but I’m sure it involved some type of cheese!  If you ask my husband,  he’d say veal shank osso buco or braised short ribs.

  1. What kind of food inspires you most?

I think it’s more the reaction of those who enjoy our food that inspires us more than a specific type of food.  We have been having a lot of fun with international dishes.  They seem to be the most popular on our blog!

  1. Your exciting journey?

This is quite a journey for the four of us!  Our children are generally standing with their dinner plates waiting to be fed while we get “just one last shot” of the ‘show plate’, as we all playfully call it.  Both kids like to be involved in cooking and even writing a few blogs themselves.  We’re not sure where we’re going with this, but so far the road has been a lot of fun!

  1. When have you started to blog and why?

We started seriously blogging in August 2015.  It started as a fun hobby and the more we blogged, the more addicting it became!

  1. What do you think about social media?

What great venues to get our name out there and to connect with people!  Twitter has by far been the most successful for us.

  1. What are your experiences with social media?

It’s actually been amazing to see the amount of “organic” followers we have generated just by word of mouth and by following those with similar interests.

  1. How much time do you spend on your blog?

We take photos almost each night of what we’re cooking and quite a bit on the weekends.  I like to write posts earlier in the morning while my husband prefers later at night.

  1. What sources do you use?

When it comes to measurements or correct terminology or even the history of a certain food or dish, we go to Google!

  1. How do you handle the writing and corrections?

Since both my husband and I write up the blogs, we each proof & edit each other’s post before publishing.

  1. Have you a favorite cookbook? What do you like most about it?

I would have to say “Mario Batali’s Molto Italiano”.  This cookbook literally lives on our countertop in a stand and we’ve made so many of the delicious recipes, its second nature to us now!

Simply Sundays questions for our Nominees:

  1. What inspires your love of cooking?
  2. What is your go-to ingredient?
  3. Share your favorite kitchen tool and tell us why?
  4. What’s your most popular recipe?
  5. Do you prefer cooking savory or sweet?
  6. What encouraged you to be a blogger?
  7. Which famous chef inspires you and why?
  8. What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten?
  9. Cheese or chocolate?
  10. What advice would you offer to a new food blogger?

We’ve found the food blogging industry to be filled with so many supportive and helpful people.  So glad to be a part of this enjoyable journey and to call ourselves fellow foodies!

  1. I love reading your blog and so deeply appreciate the nomination! I also come from an Irish-Italian family on my mom’s side and am also inspired by the food I had at parties and celebrations growing up. You have some lucky kiddos who get to eat all of your fun creations! Have a great weekend. -Deb
