A refreshing drink flavored with a good rosé and slightly sweetened from strawberry simple syrup
Frozen Rosé, or Frosé, is all the rage right now!
I love food trends… let’s freeze a bottle of wine and see if it goes viral!
Well, there’s a little more to it than that and it’s simply delicious!
There’s a slight sweetness from the strawberry simple syrup and the refreshing flavor of a good rosé
A Perfect drink to chill (literally!) with your friends!
Start with a bottle of good dry rosé
Pour the wine into a 13×9 pan . I’m using a glass baking pan with high sides and a lid
Cover and freeze for at least 5 hours or even overnight
It won’t freeze solid due to the alcohol
Let’s make strawberry simple syrup
Bring equal parts of water and sugar, 1/2 cup each in this case, to a boil and stir until sugar dissolves
Hull and slice up 8 ounces of strawberries and let steep in the simple syrup until the liquid is completely cool
Just let them sit, don’t mash. We want the strawberry flavor to be infused without pulp
Strain the berries and set aside for another use (Um… on top of vanilla ice cream??) and chill the simple syrup
Now for the fun part… well, the part my daughter likes anyway
Take the frozen rosé out of the freezer and scrape with a fork. Right now it’s a granita!
scrape, scrape, scrape…
Scrape right into a blender
Add in 3 ounces of fresh lemon juice and 4 ounces of the strawberry simple syrup and blend until pureed
Re-freeze for another 20-30 minutes, either in your blender or back into the pan
Once frozen to a milkshake consistency re-blend
Serve garnished with strawberries and enjoy chillin’ with your favorite happy hour friend!
