Starters

Won Tons

Won Tons are a great little starter, snack or even an accompaniment to a larger meal

They’re fairly easy to make and easier still since I’m using store bought Won Ton wrappers

Start with about 2 pounds of ground pork

Next we will need 4 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, 1 tablespoon of chopped green onion (scallions) and 1 heaping teaspoon of fresh grated ginger

dsc06675

Add all the above ingredients to the meat

dsc06684

Using your hands mix the meat gently to incorporate all ingredients

dsc06687

Start with a small bowl of water, a Won Ton wrappers and a teaspoon for measuring out the meat mixture

dsc06686-2

You will want use a heaping teaspoon of the meat

Place meat mixture in the center of the Won Ton

Dip your finger tip into the water and wet all four outside edges of the wrapper

dsc06690-2

Bring the top and bottom points together forming a triangle

dsc06693-2

Pinch the sides together to form a seal

dsc06697

Wet the tips on the right and left points of the triangle and fold inward and pinch to seal

Now we have a Won Ton!

It will look a bit like a little hat

dsc06699-2

You can always fry or steam these but we are going to bake them

Place them on a non stick pan (I’m using a Sil Pat Mat)

Give them a little shot of cooking spray

Place in a 350 F degree oven and cook until lightly browned, 20-25 minutes

Yum!!!

Now we serve this with a more traditional Duck Sauce, but we also make a sweet and sour sauce out of chili sauce and grape jelly

Yep….you heard me right

We will need 1 cup of grape jelly and one cup of chili sauce

dsc06722

Add this to a pot and cook until the jelly melts down and you can whisk them together

And that’s it!!

Delicious and tasty Won Tons!!

We served this sprinkled with fresh chopped green onion and our dipping sauces on the side!!

Enjoy!!!
