Muddy Buddies

Muddy Buddies and football are synonymous in our house

We make them for every Superbowl party and even bring them with us tailgating before the game!

Why?  You may ask.  Well, this crunchy cereal peanut buttery-chocolate snack mix is always a crowd pleaser!

And they’re easy to make!  Our Son, Mike, is the Muddy Buddy expert in our house and he’s going to take you through the steps to making this winning dessert snack!

You will need 9 cups of rice cereal, 1 cup of chocolate chips, 1/2 cup of peanut butter, 1/4 cup of butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar

Pour the chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl, add the peanut butter and butter

Microwave for 60 seconds, remove, stir and put back for another 10-15 seconds and stir until smooooth.  Add in a teaspoon of vanilla and stir until combined

Add the mixture to the rice cereal in a large bowl and gently stir to coat all of the pieces

Add the powdered sugar to a gallon zip top baggie and scoop in the cereal mixture.  I find it helpful to place the plastic bag in another mixing bowl for support and also to fold over the top so the zip part of the baggie stays clean

Zip the top and gently shake the bag until all of the cereal is covered in the powdered sugar

Pour out onto a sheet pan lined with parchment or waxed paper until completely cooled
