True story, when I was perusing recipes for a new Friday night cocktail, the name of this drink is what stopped me in my tracks
Not because I’m interested in drinking anything that has to do with a feline (no offense to my bestie cat Shelby) but because my Grandmother’s name was Kitty
Kitty and her sister Nellie loved highballs. They would have a cocktail and venture into a feature film in Manhattan during the 1930’s. Sounds like a lovely afternoon to me!
Oh, and I also love wine. And as soon as I saw a cocktail made with wine, I was curious
Turns out, this simple drink is reminiscent of a sangria, but WAY easier to prepare and there’s no melding time
Simply combine 2 ounces of your favorite dry red wine (I used a cabernet) & 3 ounces of ginger ale. Pour over crushed ice in a highball glass with a squeeze of fresh lime
That’s it! A simple & refreshing cocktail!
Cheers!

Thank you Ramona!
What a lovely drink, red wine is not often used in cocktails in many places but they love doing it here in Hungary… Now I must try find some ginger ale!
Thanks Brian! If you’re having a hard time finding ginger ale, you can always make a ginger simple syrup by combining equal parts water and sugar and simmering with fresh ginger. You’ll just need to add in some sparkling water to the cocktail for the bubbles. Cheers!
Love that this is such an easy cocktail to make! I love sangria so def want to give this Kitty highball a try!
