This blend of herbs and spices is the basis for so many pickled vegetable recipes and is used to flavor certain stews, soups and meats
I pickle SO many different veggies all summer long so it’s totally worth it for me to make a batch of my own pickling spices
Some of our favorites include Simple Refrigerator Pickles, Giardiniera, Pickled Red Onions & Pickled Jalapenos
Can I buy this spice mix at the grocer? Sure. But you get more bang for your buck when you mix your own and keep it on hand for various recipes that call for this spice blend
And it couldn’t be easier. Measure out 1 tablespoon each of mustard seed, whole black peppercorns & crumbled bay leaves, 1 teaspoon each of coriander seeds & allspice and a 1/2 teaspoon each of red pepper flakes & cloves
Mix all of the herbs and spices and store in a glass jar for up to 6 months
We love it when our readers make and share our recipes!
