Seasoned and seared beef patty, melted cheese, smoky bacon topped with fresh lettuce and tomato for the perfect burger!
I know… I know
Why make your own burgers when there are so many frozen choices out there these days
My answer to that?
Because they just taste so much better!
I also believe if you have good quality meat you don’t need a lot of ingredients to get a fantastic tasting burger
That being said let’s start with the beef
(“Where’s the beef?” okay…showing my age now, someone will laugh at this)
I like to use 80% ground chuck as it has more flavor and yes, more fat. Let’s face it, if you’re going to eat a burger it should be juicy and delicious
Cover a sheet pan with wax paper that has been sprayed with cooking oil
I like to make things easy so I take a handful of meat and fill a 3/4 measuring cup
This equals 6 ounces of burger meat
Dump the meat in your hands and roll it between your palms until you have a uniform ball
Next flatten the ball between your palms and there you have it
A burger…ta da!
Using your thumb make an indent in each patty
This will keep the burger from bulging up into a ball when it cooks
Now for my secret weapon
You will need 1/2 cup of Worcestershire Sauce, 1 tablespoon of Gravy Master, kosher salt, ground black pepper, garlic powder and onion powder
Mix the liquids together and brush onto each burger, then sprinkle with the seasonings
You can flip and repeat now or wait until they’re in the pan
Now you can certainly head out to the grill with these
Or you can cook them in a cast iron pan like I’m doing
There is something about the cast iron pan that just adds so much flavor
I hit mine with a little cooking spray and set it over medium heat
Once the pan starts smoking a bit, add in the burgers
Now if you haven’t done so already you can brush this side and season it
Cook the burgers for around 6-8 minutes
Give them a flip…It’s okay to have a nice char on them
Cook another 4-6 minutes or until desired doneness
Top with your preferred cheese, we are using American
Cover and cook another minute or until the cheese melts
I like to butter and toast the rolls
We are topping these with some bacon, lettuce and tomatoes
Top them with what you like and dig in!!!
