Tzatziki Sauce is a great condiment to Greek foods like gyros, chicken and lamb Souvlaki and even Greek salads
The best part is that it is fairly easy to make
Here is our version
To start we will need 1 cup of Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon of sour cream, 1 tablespoon of ranch dressing, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt and ground black pepper
Now I know our Greek readers might be shaking their heads at the addition of sour cream and ranch dressing, but I like to cut the heaviness of the yogurt a bit
Place these ingredients into a bowl
Whisk together to combine
Next we will need 1/4 of an English cucumber (around 1 cup when grated) and 1 garlic clove
I used a box grater on these
Once grated you can add the garlic right into the Tzatziki
The cucumber holds a lot of water, so I like to put it into paper towels and squeeze as much liquid out as I can
This will keep the Tzatziki from being watered down
Then add into the bowl
Whisk to combine, chill at least 15 minutes before serving
Serve as an accompaniment to many Greek dishes!
Enjoy!!!
