Tacos

Perfectly seasoned and easy to make flavorful tacos for a fast weeknight meal or a Cinco de Mayo celebration!

Who doesn’t love taco night??

We use ground turkey in this recipe but you can substitute whatever ground meat you like

We find ground turkey is a great alternative in dishes like this as it takes on a lot of flavor and has less fat, so don’t be afraid to try it

So let’s start with some onion, garlic and jalapenos

Peel and chop the onion a well as the garlic

I cut the stems off the jalapeno pepper, then slice it in half lengthwise

If you want less heat, remove the membrane and seeds by easily pulling the tip of a teaspoon along the inside of the pepper

Once the pepper is cleaned out, cut into a small dice

I also recommend trying a piece of jalapeno.  Peppers vary in their level of heat and you may want to scale back how much you use, depending on how hot the pepper is

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat

Add in the onions, garlic and jalapeno, and cook 6-8 minutes or until they start to soften

The onions, peppers and garlic should have caramelized nicely

Next add in the ground meat

We are cooking for a large crowd so we are using a 3 pound family pack (if using less, adjust your seasoning accordingly)

Break the meat up into smaller pieces using a spatula, until cooked through, around 8-10 minutes

Next, we will need some flavor

Taco seasoning is simple to make, you can control the ingredients and not have added preservatives

This is our favorite Taco Seasoning

Since this is a large batch, I’m using 3-4 tablespoons of taco seasoning (try it as you add, remember, you can always add more but you can’t take away), 1/2 cup of water and 3 tablespoons of Gravy Master

Add the taco seasoning to the meat along with the water and Gravy Master

 Stir to combine

Allow to cook another 5-6 minutes, so the flavors are incorporated

This step is optional depending on your taste

We are using a handful of fresh cilantro (we love our fresh herbs!)

Give them a chop

Sprinkle the cilantro over the taco meat

This is a great trick we picked up along the way to heat your taco shells

Flip a muffin tin over and place the shells between the cups

Fill with some cheddar and heat according to the taco shell package

Oh, are we starting our taco out with gooey melted cheese?

Oh yes we are!

Add the meat to the shells along with your favorite toppings!

We like lettuce, olives, jalapenos, extra cheese, sour cream, lime wedges and of course our Easy GuacamoleGarden Fresh Salsa !!!

Enjoy!!!
