Pomegranate Margarita

There are many types of margaritas but hands down, this is our favorite way to enjoy this refreshing lime-y cocktail… with a kick of pomegranate liqueur!

Right now I’m thinking about mixing up a couple of these

I remember last time I made them I said “Man, these are good, wish I had another.”

Today I’ll plan ahead

Measure out 1 1/2 ounces of pomegranate liqueur, 1 ounce of tequila, 1/2 ounce of triple sec and 1/2 ounce of fresh lime juice per cocktail

Pour over ice, give a stir and enjoy with your favorite Happy Hour friends!

Rosemary Grapefruit Spritzers

Ahh… refreshing

I guarantee that’s what you’ll say when you enjoy this citrusy cocktail with a hint of rosemary

Let’s start by making a rosemary infused simple syrup

Measure one cup each of water and sugar, bring to a boil over medium heat and simmer until the sugar is dissolved

Add in a spring of fresh rosemary and simmer for about 5 minutes more. Turn off the heat and let steep for 10 minutes

You can do this step ahead of time and keep the rosemary infused simple syrup in the fridge

Or, if you’re like me and don’t plan ahead, you can stick it in the freezer for a bit to chill down

Measure out 2 ounces of vodka, 1/2 cup of ruby red grapefruit juice, 1/4 cup of rosemary simple syrup and a splash of seltzer per cocktail

You’ll still get the great rosemary flavor but less sweetness if you prefer to only add in 1/8 cup of the simple syrup

Pour over ice, stir and enjoy this refreshing cocktail with your favorite happy hour friends!

1/2 cup of ruby red grapefruit juice

1/4 cup of rosemary simple syrup

Directions

Black Russian

It’s no wonder that the name of this popular cocktail comes from the use of vodka, a traditional Russian liquor and the dark color of the coffee liqueur

It’s almost too easy… equal parts of a good quality vodka and coffee liqueur, poured over ice and stirred

Well, since I just gave all of the ingredients and directions in one sentence, let’s get to it

Choose your favorite vodka and Coffee Liqueur

Pour two ounces each of vodka and coffee liqueur over ice and give a quick stir

My kind of drink… 30 seconds from mix to cheers!

Shamrock Shake

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with this creamy, minty shamrock shake!

Who needs to wait for a certain fast food restaurants (ahem) to come out with Shamrock Shakes for a limited time??

Make them at home with a few simple ingredients whenever you want!

All you need is 2 cups of good quality vanilla bean ice cream, 1 cup of whole milk, 1/2 teaspoon of mint extract and a few drops of green food coloring

Add all of the ingredients to a blender and give a whirl

You can adjust the amount of food coloring for your desired amount of “greenness”

Serve with whipped cream, some festive sprinkles and a green cherry or two!

Ingredients

2 cups of vanilla bean ice cream

1 cup of whole milk

1/2 teaspoon of mint extract

A few drop of green food coloring

Whipped cream, sprinkles and green maraschino cherries for serving

Directions

Add ice cream, milk, extract and food coloring to a blender and give a whirl

Serve with whipped cream, sprinkles and green maraschino cherries if desired

Peppermint Mocha Hot Chocolate

Add to the festivities with this chocolatey, rich and inexpensive version of a coffeehouse favorite

Somewhere along the line I have made my kids into Starbucks snobs

Cool that I can share my love of trendy coffee beverages but NOT cool because of how expensive trendy coffee beverages can be!!

We fell in love with the seasonal Peppermint Mocha Hot Chocolate but didn’t want to break the bank so we decided to make our own at home

So here’s our quick & inexpensive version of a coffeehouse favorite

Measure out 2 cups of whole milk, one cup of strong black coffee or espresso, 3 ounces of semi sweet chocolate chips, a couple of candy canes and whipped cream

Put 2 candy canes in a baggie and lightly tap with a meat mallet

Pour the candy canes and milk into a small sauce pot over medium-low heat and whisk until the candy has melted

Remove the pot from the heat and whisk in the chocolate chips

Divide the coffee between two mugs and ladle in the hot chocolate mixture

Top with whipped cream, and serve with an additional candy cane and crushed candy if desired
