Sweet stuff

Muddy Buddies

Muddy Buddies and football are synonymous in our house

We make them for every Superbowl party and even bring them with us tailgating before the game!

Why?  You may ask.  Well, these little peanut buttery-chocolate bites are always a crowd pleaser!

And they’re easy too.  Our Son, Mike, is the Muddy Buddy expert in our house and he’s going to take you through the steps to making this winning dessert snack!

You will need 9 cups of Chex cereal (we used rice but any variety works the same), 1 cup of chocolate chips, 1/2 cup of peanut butter, 1/4 cup of butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar

Pour the chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl, add the peanut butter and butter

Microwave for 60 seconds, remove, stir and put back for another 10-15 seconds

Once the mixture is smooooth, stir in the teaspoon of vanilla

Add the mixture to the Chex cereal in a large bowl and gently stir to coat all of the pieces

Add the powdered sugar to a gallon zip top baggie and scoop in the cereal mixture.  Zip the top and gently shake the bag until all of the cereal is covered in the powdered sugar

Pour out onto a sheet pan lined with waxed paper until completely cooled

My granddaughters loved this recipe! Even the whole family loved it. its so easy to make and they love muddy buddy’s anyway and is so much cheaper Going to try making different kinds. Any suggestions?

    • We love them too! I saw one made with Nutella instead of peanut butter and another Harry Potter Butterbeer version with butterscotch chips… haven’t tried either yet, but we plan to!
