Chex Muddy Buddies and football are synonymous in our house. This easy to make crunchy Chex cereal mix with peanut butter & chocolate flavors makes Muddy Buddies a great gluten free party snack
We make them for every Superbowl party and even bring them with us tailgating before the game
How do I make Muddy Buddies??
Did I mention they’re easy to make?? Our Son, Mike, is the Muddy Buddy expert in our house and he’s going to take you through the steps to making this winning dessert snack!
You will need 9 cups of rice cereal, 1 cup of chocolate chips, 1/2 cup of peanut butter, 1/4 cup of butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
Pour the chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl, add the peanut butter and butter
Microwave for 60 seconds, remove, stir and put back for another 10-15 seconds and stir until smooooth. Next, add in a teaspoon of vanilla and stir until combined
Add the mixture to the rice cereal in a large bowl and gently stir to coat all of the pieces
Add the powdered sugar to a gallon zip top baggie and scoop in the cereal mixture. I find it helpful to place the plastic bag in another mixing bowl for support and also to fold over the top so the zip part of the baggie stays clean
Zip the top and gently shake the bag until all of the cereal is covered in the powdered sugar
Pour out onto a sheet pan lined with parchment or waxed paper until completely cooled
Serve up at your next party and watch them disappear!!

We love them too! I saw one made with Nutella instead of peanut butter and another Harry Potter Butterbeer version with butterscotch chips… haven’t tried either yet, but we plan to!
I’m sending to my sister she can make this for my niece with her nutfree peanut butter!
Oooh! You’ll have to let us know how it comes out with nutfree butter! And thank you for sharing!
