If you can be obsessed with smoked salmon then I’m guilty as charged
Smoked salmon sandwiches, smoked salmon canapes, smoked salmon quiches…
I could go on
I was thinking about making little smoked salmon appetizers for a holiday and thought, wouldn’t it just be easier to blend up all of the ingredients that I would painstakingly layer on a cracker or baguette?
Sure it would. Smoked Salmon Spread is born
I’m using a 4 ounce package of smoked salmon, 8 ounces of room temp cream cheese, 2 tablespoons of heavy cream, 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon of fresh dill and kosher salt and black pepper
Put all of the ingredients into a food processor or blender and give it a whirl
Did I mention this is also SUPER simple?? Yeah, it’s simple. True story
Once you have the desired consistency, scoop out and chill for about a half hour
At this point, you are free to use this spread in any way you’d like
Spread on a bagel, a cracker, a baguette OR since I’m planning to serve these on a holiday, in these fancy little fillo cups that you can find at your grocery store
You might know from previous “piping” blogs that I like to just cut the corner off of a plastic baggie to pipe soft ingredients (like these Deviled Eggs) but since I want these to be a little fancy, I’m using a pastry bag with the metal star tip
Fill the bag 3/4 of the way and start to pipe the tasty salmon spread in each cup
Do we get extra points for cute AND delicious??
I left them in their tray so I could chill them easier
If you’re not using the cups, chill the spread in the bowl you plan to serve it in and bring out of the fridge about 20 minutes before showtime
Sprinkle with additional chopped fresh dill and let’s get this party started!
A perfect little bite!
Enjoy!
