Golden Graham S’Mores

Our kids love to cook almost as much as they love to eat

We’re proud here at Simply Sundays when they come home inspired to make something delicious that they enjoyed

Our daughter, Marin, made this interesting twist on S’Mores at Summer camp and wanted to share!

Who doesn’t love S’Mores??  I’m guessing that’s why they’re named “some-mores”, right?

You’ll need a 12 ounce box of Golden Grahams cereal, 1 cup of chocolate chips, one 10 ounce bag of mini-marshmallows, 6 tablespoons of butter and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

I like to prep my pan first.  Line a 13 x 9 inch pan with parchment or waxed paper.  Spray with cooking spray

Melt the butter in a medium sized saucepan over medium-low heat

 Add in the mini marshmallows, reserving about a cup to add in later

Stir constantly until the marshmallows melt and are nice and smooth… this doesn’t take long, so don’t get distracted!  🙂

Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla

Once combined, pour the marshmallow mixture over the Golden Grahams in a large mixing bowl

Work quickly making sure all of the cereal is coated

Pour in the cup of chocolate chips and the reserved mini marshmallows

A cool trick I learned on Pinterest is to freeze the chocolate chips before adding into a warm mixture

This keeps them from melting and covering everything in chocolate

 Not that that’s a bad thing!

Now things get a little sticky

Scrape the mixture onto the prepared pan and press down evenly

 I suggest you put a little cooking spray on your hands first just to make life easy

Okay

 Now for the really hard part

 Cover and wait for a WHOLE HOUR for the Golden Graham S’Mores to chill!

Lift the S’Mores out of the pan with the parchment and onto a cutting board

Cut into squares and serve!

One 10 ounce bag of mini-marshmallows

6 tablespoons of butter

1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

Freeze the cup of chocolate chips

Melt the butter in a medium sized saucepan over medium-low heat.  Add in the mini marshmallows, reserving about a cup to add in later; stir constantly until the marshmallows melt and are nice and smooth

Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla

Once combined, pour the marshmallow mixture over the Golden Grahams in a large mixing bowl and stir (working quickly) making sure all of the cereal is coated

Pour in the cup of chocolate chips and the reserved mini marshmallows

Scrape the mixture onto the prepared pan, spray your hands with a little cooking oil (to stop the mixture from sticking) and press down evenly

Chill for an hour, remove to a board and cut into squares
